The Little Things Add Up

So January started off with a bang! Ring in the new year, make a resolution, join the gym, make countless promises and get to work…then February came.
Everything came to not quite a screeching halt, but a definite bump in the road. (A 108 inch bump at that! ) Snow storms, snow days, sick children, more snow, more snow and MORE SNOW!!! I still made it to the gym, but more out of a desire to get out of the house, as opposed to any real health issue.
Finally, March arrived. Slow start, but getting a routine together. Starting to see little changes….Shadows around muscles, the jiggle stops a little sooner, the muffin doesn’t have as big a top. Starting to see bones that have been coated in chub for years. Had a setback though when I got on a scale and the number actually went “UP”!! It rocked me. I’ve been working out, doing what I should and the number went up. What was this all about? Went to my next class and broke down and cried. I cried! What do I do? What didn’t I do? Where do I go from here? Got a great pep talk from one of the trainers. She didn’t coddle me, didn’t make excuses, but pointed out some facts and reset my head. It was what I needed! So, instead of giving up and thinking “this isn’t working…” I need to make some more changes. Nothing huge. I don’t need to work out 12 times a week and stop eating. Little changes…add more water to my day, eat a little more protein , make smarter choices. The biggest change will be staying OFF THE SCALE!!! The scale is just a number. It’s going to be about the little changes that will soon turn into big changes!!!
